General reference is made in the specification to the "chlorolysis" reaction, i.e. the splitting of C-C bonds by the action of chlorine at elevated temperature and pressure, and to the fact that the product of this reaction may comprise material selected from hydrogen chloride, carbon tetrachloride and tetrachloroethylene; specific reference is made to the formation of carbon tetrachloride from benzene and chlorine. The disadvantage of this reactor is insufficient strength when conducting reactions at high pressures and temperatures in corrosive environments. The sealing surfaces of the nickel core are easily convex; they are, in their design, parts of a spherical surface with a large ball diameter, the center of which lies in the axis.
